My mac and iphone are signed in to the same Apple ID but i cannot trn on calls on other devices

I am trying to make calls from my mac but it is saying it is not configured to do so. I go to my iphone and and select the option to "allow call on other devices". I get a message that reads "Cannot turn on call on other devices. Facetime and icloud must be signed in to the same apple id to enable calls on other devices." BUT the thing is, I am signed in to the same apple id. What do i do now?

iPhone SE, iOS 14

Have you tried restarting the phone and trying again? Signed out of iCloud and FaceTime, restarted the phone, and then signed back in?
