black screen macbook pro with ise of camera cover

my new macbook pro is broken already. it was caused by a tiny piece of thin plastic camera cover commonly used on phones and laptops. i have seen on line now that it is a very common issue. Apple say i am not covered by the warranty as it is a hardware issue and that the screen is so sensitive it cannot have anything on the screen even so small a thing. So £600 repair on top of the £1500 i just paid. How can an expensive laptop like this be so vulnerable? i feel this is so unjust. Apple sales team should make it clear and would i have though twice before i bought a laptop that will stuggle to last 1 year never mind 5. First time i feel such poor service and product from Apple. Anyone else had this issue?

The thinner a device the more fragile and delicate it becomes. These laptops also have very little clearance when the lid is closed. I know a lot of people cut a small bit of a Post-It Note to put over the camera.

You can try to go after the vendor who sold you the camera cover if they said it was compatible with your exact model Mac. But as in everything else the buyer needs to take some responsibility for checking things out and asking questions. Apple even has an article about camera covers here:
