My MacBook Air has operating system 10.13.6. Is there a more recent udate available? Adobe seems to believe so as there updates are not compatible with my operating system.

Very disappointed with Apple. My MacBook Air works perfectly. I have no interests in throwing it out and spending a substantial amount to replace it. I guess Apple cares less about the environment as it forces people to throw out perfectly working computers. I might as well transfer my need of computers to Microsoft products.
Apple is not forcing you to do anything. You can use your Mac as is as long as it works for you. The issue is, technology advances, so does software to take advantage of new hardware. If that wasn't the case, we'd all be still using Apple II computers.
There are three more recent updates, Mojave, Catalina and Big Sur.
You need a 2012 or later iMac for the first two, a 2014 or later iMac for the latter.
