Big Sur 11.2.1 on a brand new IMac 21,5 " - returns "The package %@ is missing or invalid"

I just received my wifes' brand new IMac 21.5" yesterday ..It came with Catalina on board.

I tried to upgrade to Big Sur 11.2.1 but nearly at the end of the download I get the message : "The package %@ is missing or invalid"

Awful ..... a brand new machine, no software installed - Catalina updates have been made ... same Stuff...

"The package %@ is missing or invalid"

After looking a little bit around on the iInternet, finally found a solution that worked for me. Rebooting the IMac in safe mode an launch update procedure again.

To me this seem not to be the nicest way as the IMac has just been purchased at Apple.com via the Apple Store - App on my Iphone, comes with a kind of vintage operating system and somewhat refuses to upgrade to the latest software.

@ Apple - Please check to fix this - I am not the only one with the problem.
