Pages and Pixelmator Pro problems post BIg Sur install

Hi,

I'm having Pages and Pixelmator Pro problems since my BIg Sur install. Some docs won't open, a restart let some open but not all. Same with Pixelmator Pro.

What's up? Any solution?

The reason that font was missing in Safe Mode is this:

• Disables user-installed fonts

So that's not so strange. After rebooting normally and running for a while did the problems come back?

If they did log into another vanilla admin user account, Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac and see if the problem persists. (This tells us if the problem is limited to your user account or is system wide).

And, have you installed or run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac?

What Pages version do you have? The latest is 10.3.9.

Do you have the latest Pixelmator Pro version?

Boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Thank you very much for the reply.

In Safe Mode, Pages was able to open the doc tho it said the doc was missing 2 fonts: Rimes-Italic and Helvetica Neue.

I never heard of Rimes-Italic and how could Helvetica Neue, one of the most popular fonts on the planet, and which I've been using on Pages suddenly go missing?

Pixelmator Pro wouldn't even open tho it has been opening some of the time since I upgraded, but here it said it wouldn't because I didn't have metal graphics technology. Huh? Crazy. It too has been opening some of the time. When it didn't, restarting my MBP usually got it working for a while.

Any ideas?

Don't know why you got that message as you couldn't even run Catalina without the metal graphics capability.

After rebooting normally did Pages work? It it the latest version?

How about Pixelmator Pro?

The Rimes font must have been an added font for that particular PDF as it's not a standard Mac font. Did you create that PDF or get it from somewhere else?

Pages is latest version and it worked but it always does after a reboot.

Same with Pixelmator Pro.

But I also have an update for Pixelmator Pro that fails to update and that began when OS was still Catalina.

I would say restarting in Safe Mode wasn't really the reason Pages and PP started working again, it was because I rebooted.

I've heard lots of people with older macs like me—MBP mid-20125— are having problems with Big Sur tho Apple compatability chart says it will work.

I've can't trust my internet connection and currently i'm working from home. That sucks.

I upgraded to Big Sur because of internet problems with Catalina and now the internet is worse and I've got Pages and Pixelmator Pro problems.
