Cant erase the, 500.11 GB WDC WD5000BEVT-00ZAT0 Media. Say it can't unmount. I am trying to wipeout all the disk and reinstall MacOS X without windows

Can't erase the, 500.11 GB WDC WD5000BEVT-00ZAT0 Media. Say it can't unmount the disk, I am trying to wipe out all the disk, it had win7 on it. and want to just reinstall macOS X without windows on my mac mini

You can not erase the disk that you are started up from.


You need to startup in macOS Recovery Mode, to erase and reinstall macOS.

Tip: You need to erase and reformat the whole drive (not just the Macintosh HD partition) to recover all of the drive space back from the windows partition.
