photo app

where do i find the photos app for a new mac that i just got. i migrated iphotos from an older mac aand it says i need to upgrade

The photos app is normally in the dock. If it is not there, it will be in launcher.


It will have this icon.


It will be the iphoto library you have moved from your old mac - and that will need to be upgraded to photos format. This will normally happen when you open it with photos.


However, if your version of iPhoto was V7 or earlier, you will first need to use the iPhoto library upgrader tool:

You will probably need to use that tool on your old mac, then copy the library to your new mac again.
