Zoom interrupts Mac OS restart

I have the latest version of Zoom installed on my Mac running Big Sur. When I go to reboot the computer, Zoom briefly puts up a text box saying "Zoom.us interrupted restart". The computer does however restart.

Has anyone else seen this message and know how to fix it? I asked Zoom for help and they tried but said it is a rare occurrence and they have yet to provide a fix.

Thanks in advance, Kim

Quit Zoom before shutdown/restarting your Mac because it has a live network connection to the Zoom site, and this must be timed out before the operating system will follow through on your request. Apple Mail does the same thing when it is still communicating with one or more remote Mail servers.

Thank you for your very helpful response. I was apprised by Zoom that this was the best way to prevent the message (and it does work!) but still find it puzzling. For one, Zoom never did this before about a month ago, during which time I probably upgraded Big Sur to its most recent version and/or Zoom was upgraded by the company. However, it's possible I just didn't notice it before as my Mac is rarely restarted. For another, although you are quite correct that Apple Mail will delay the restart/shutdown until it finishes communicating with its remote Mail servers, this only delays the restart/shutdown but does not put up a text box with the warning. Perhaps Zoom needs to do just that.

Thanks again, Kim
