Malware pop up

All of a sudden received pop up alert “InitialProgramd" will damage your computer. Had buttons for Show in Finder and Ok, buttons did not work, did find a similar named file “com.InitialProgramd.plist” and deleted it. I now am unable to get internet, and pop up continues....

You probably installed some adware when you installed some other program. There are a few recent posts with some form of “Initial…” as the name. You should be suspect of all software you do not get directly from the developer’s website or the App Store. There is a very high probability it comes with baggage.

Etrecheck may be able to detect and remove it.


If Etrecheck doesn’t identify it, and it is not pervasive, you can likely find the Launch Daemon property list file in /Library/LaunchDaemons. Open that file with a text editor and there will be a path to the executable program in the text. Remove both the executable program and the plist.
