will this new update fix the problem of my mac book air not communicating with my Epson xp-7100 printer?

With the previous update my laptop will no longer communicate with my Epson xp-7100 printer. Will the new update fix that? Is there something else I need to do?

Hi,

An Epson XP-7100 is mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that you should be able to use your printer without a driver at all (if connected to a network).

Drivers (for macOS Big Sur) from the printer manufacturer may or may not add functionality.

To begin with, you may want to try resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer.

This printer can be used with USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. You may want to try a network connection if there is a problem with USB.

It is up to Epson to make their devices compatible. So, have you checked with Epson? Is that model compatible with whatever OS you are running since you did not mention which OS version you have?

On their website, it shows this:

Mac® OS X® 10.6.8–macOS® 10.13.x8

That means this is an old printer. You need to check with Epson to see if they have a driver for it.
