Hi, Sancie,

Put a photo or background into the timeline and then overlay your vertical photo on top of it using the Picture in Picture feature of iMovie. So, place your vertical photo in the upper timeline above the background. Select the vertical photo. Then, in the tool bar at the top right of your screen click on the overlay icon (the one that looks like overlapping squares). That will cause a selection box to appear below and to the left of the icon. Chose Picture in Picture. Adjust the size and position of your picture in the preview screen. Then click on the blue reset button in the top right of your screen, just above the preview screen. You want to make your vertical picture a little smaller than the background behind it so that the background shows around the edges of the vertical photo.

Thank you, Rich! You saved me from pulling out all my hair! I greatly appreciate your quick response. Your explanation was very easy to follow. I’ve looked at 2,449 Utube videos and none of them worked! No mentions of just doing a pip. Great help. I’ll sleep better tonight without ravaging my brain for solutions. Thanks again
