Install Catalina, reinstall

I am having problems with my 2012 imac.

Could I just reinstall Catalina without backing up (I have Time machine).

Will the installer leave my data along and just reinstall the OS?

Thanks Brian

Backup Is Not Required:

A backup would not be required. But I'd emphasize you back up your Mac, just incase anything goes wrong after the reinstall.
