Connecting 2 monitors to my new 2020 MacBook air

I had my 2 monitors connected to my 2019 MacBook Air and went to connect both the monitors and only 1 monitor works and the display shows only the laptop and one screen? How do I get the second screen to show up?

It depends upon the exact model MBA. The M1 silicon models only support one external display.
