Big Sur Update keeps getting caught on Checking Null

Every time I try and update it gets caught on this screen. Very frustrating.

Have tried updating it through Recovery Mode but that also failed because my bluetooth mouse and keyboard freeze, so cannot select the option to install Big Sur Mac OS.

Any bright ideas on how to get past this impasse?

Hi hondapin,

  1. Go to Finder > Go (top) > Applications, find the install macOS Big Sur app, and drag it to the trash. Empty the Trash.
  2. Shut down the Mac and Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.
  3. Use this link to get macOS Big Sur: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-big-sur/id1526878132?mt=12. Download and upgrade to Big Sur. Backup first!

Cheers,

Jack

Try this:

Again, backup before installing in case anything goes wrong.

  1. Shut off the Mac.
  2. Turn it on, and immediately press and hold Option + Command + R until you see a spinning globe.
  3. Connect to WiFi in the top right corner.
  4. Select "Reinstall macOS". IMPORTANT: Make sure it is the macOS Big Sur installer before proceeding.
  5. Follow the steps.

Cheers,

Jack
