I wonder if it’s when something is on the glass like makeup , creams, hand sanitizer etc I really try to clean . I have trouble with fingerprint clock at work . I’m a health provider and after 30 years of washing hands multiple times a day my skin is a bit dry. But then sometimes the Apple Watch 6 works so I keep thinking it is a programming issue rather than the hardware glass has traces of material on it or the quality of my skin ???

There's been a few posts on this issue over the past years. If you search using something like

Can't swipe up for control panel Apple Watch

you can see previous responses. One that I have found useful comes from Egamache back in March 2020 who says

... I was able to go into the alarms app, select an alarm, then back out to the watch face and swipe up...

I tried that a couple of times and it worked for me.

But other posters had other solutions. Good luck
