How to disable autocorrect on Numbers

Hello. I would really like for Numbers to stop autocorrecting what I’ve entered. For example I’d really like for it to say “2 minutes” and it autocorrects to “2m”. When I put 2-3 it changes it to 02/03/2021. How can I change the settings in a way that will allow for me to type whatever I want it to say without it automatically changing it on my behalf?

Was Barry's post only "helpful" or did it answer your question? If it answered it, marking it as solved will let us know your problem is solved. Otherwise we sit around wondering what can be added to solve the problem.

Auto correct applies to spelling. What you are seeing is an automatic interprettion of what you have entered as a Duration value of two minutes and a Date and Time value of, depending on your region, either the third day of February or the second dyy of March, and automatically placing that date in the current year (and completing the D&T string by appending the time 00:00:00 (midnight at the beginning of that day).

You can prevent that change by either setting the cell's data format to Text, or by beginning your entry with a single apostrophe ( '2 minutes ) to signal "this is text!" to Numbers, as I've done in the pair of cells in row 3 below.

Regards,

Barry
