iPhone deleted contacts

Make sure Contacts in iCloud is turned on. On your iPhone, go to:

Settings -> Apple ID (Your Name) -> iCloud.

Find contacts and make sure it is on.

If your contacts are gone then you can try to restore them here:

From a PC or Mac, go to: https://www.icloud.com

Go to Account Settings. Scroll down a bit. In the Advanced section, you will find "Restore Contacts"

I have the same issue - my iPhone XR keeps deleting my contacts and I confirmed that contacts are turned on in my iCloud account that I pay a monthly fee for extra storage. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it from continuing to happen?

I have this same problem and I keep having to restore my contacts. I've noticed that ICloud keeps deleting many of the same contacts, some of which are very important. I've now switched to Google to try to hold onto all my contacts.

There's a problem on my wife's iPhone 12, which also is deleting contacts and, she thinks, some photos. I checked her iCloud settings (Contacts is ON) and there is plenty of storage available. Another, possibly related behavior, is that the iPhone 12 was unable to save/create a new contact from Messages that a friend had sent.

She's checked more frequently contacted people (mostly relatives) and many are missing in Contacts. Whatever is happening is unacceptable and needs attention asap.
