How to change format in Email?

Over the past month or two, any emails that I compose seem to send OK, but I cannot see the contents of the message in my Sent box. I just get this message in the ‘contents’ section:

This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.

text/plain”

What do I need to do to comply with the format protocols, so that I can read the text of the message sent? I cannot find anywhere to change the format.

The strange thing is that the message is readable in the preview pane, but nowhere else.

Thanks for getting back to us SN53,

Next, let's try forcing the Mail app on your iPad to close, so a fresh instance of the app can be opened the next time you tap the icon. The following page explains how: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

After forcing the app to close, restart your iPad, and check Mail again.

Let us know what changes you see after taking these steps/

Hi there SN53,

We understand you're not seeing the body of messages in your sent mailbox.

So the support community can provide an appropriate response, we'd like to learn a bit more. The more information you can provide, the better the chances you'll get a helpful response.

To start, are you using the Mail app, both to send messages, and view your mailboxes?

If you're using another email client, or checking your messages from a web browser, which app or apps do you use?

Do the message you've sent that don't display, contain mostly standard text, or do they include images, attachments, or special formatting or fonts?

Do you see the same thing if you send a simple test message to your own email address?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

I am using the iPad Mail app.

The emails I compose are usually simple typed messages, with no fancy fonts, images or attachments. I have set up the app to automatically bcc myself, so I have access to all Sent emails on all of my devices (iPad, using Mail app; PC, using MSOutlook; phone, using Samsung Mail app).

This has worked perfectly for years on my current and previous iPad, until recently.

An email composed on and sent from my iPad is received by the addressee and the bcc is received by my PC and phone with no problem. But on my iPad, the Sent message is replaced by the above error message in the content pane and the same happens to the bcc received in the iPad Inbox. Strangely, what is normally visible in the Preview pane is there and can be read!

I have tried to send a simple message to myself and get the same result.

I think that I followed the instructions for forcing the Mail app to close. I restarted my iPad and composed a test email to myself. Got the same error message.

I would have liked to have seen some sort of confirmation message that I was closing the Mail app, so I could be sure that I was successful, but there was no such message.

I didn’t notice any changes in the app after I restarted my iPad.
