I recently canceled a subscription and i was charged what i would have payed the following month. I was wondering why i was being charged for a month if i was no longer going to be using the app.

Hmm, that should not happen. Perhaps, the billing occurred before the cancellation. See this:

FWIW if anyone deletes a subscription app their your device it's not canceled.
