how do i select multiple conversations at once to delete them??? command + shift isn't working!!

which is absolutely ridiculous, right?!?! Why hasn't APPLE figured this out? Every other thing on my computer lets me select multiple things at once. Apple needs to make this a feature. Deleting iMessages is SO tedious and a waste of time, but it takes up storage space if you don't.
