transfer playlist in itunes to thumb drive to play in vehicle

i have a iPhone Xs that is full. i have several playlist on my MacBook (early 2015 running big sur) in iTunes. they were made using music i own (Cds) and music i purchased from iTunes. i do not need an itouch so i bought a samsung thumb drive. i hoped to just copy the playlist to the thumb drive and play them in my 2018 jeep wrangler with CarPlay. since i have multiple playlists i created multiple folders on the thumb drive with each playlist name. i highlighted all the songs i wanted to transfer from a playlist and dragged them to the new folder. when i do this not all the songs transfer (ex 90 out of 150 songs transfer) . i tried as little as 10 songs and only 8 moved over. when i do them individually they transfer but i can't get them to transfer in large groups. i do notice when i transfer them individually that have a different modification date (idk why they have never been modified) the songs don't transfer in order so its hard to trouble shoot which songs transfered. i have several playlist with hundreds of songs in each and the thumb drive has plenty of room to hold all of my music. this seems like a simple task but its not working. laptop has all the latest updates.
