Apple Watch Series 6 in Europe

I am US military stationed in Germany. I'm interested in purchasing an Apple Watch Series 6, but I want to ensure it it will work in Europe before I buy.

I have an unlocked iPhone 11 Pro with a German Telekom phone number and contract.

I could purchase the Apple watch from Telekom, but it is more expensive here. Also, if I purchase the apple watch from Telekom, will it work when I return to the states and get my old AT&T number back?

Thank you.

GPS only Apple Watch will work anywhere around the world as long as your iPhone is nearby.

Cellular Apple Watch:

There are 2 Apple Watch cellular radios

• Canada, U.S. Mexico, Puerto Rico

• The rest of the world

Carriers will not attempt to connect to an Apple Watch that does not use the correct radio.

If you do not get your Apple Watch in your own country, you may have to return the Apple Watch to the country where purchased to get warranty service.

If you do not get your Apple Watch in your own country, there may be country specific restrictions in the installed Apple Watch software that prevent features from working when you get home.

The Cellular + GPS Apple Watch shares the iPhone's phone number, and the carriers that support the Apple Watch charge a monthly fee. In the U.S. the fee is $10 per month. Here is a list of carriers that support the Apple Watch:

The Apple Watch does not support roaming, so when away from the iPhone carrier's area, the Apple Watch will revert to GPS only mode (see below).

The GPS only Apple Watch can do Everything the Cellular model can do AS LONG AS your iPhone is nearby, where nearby is generally somewhere in the same moderately sized home. The Cellular model allows you to leave your iPhone at home while you go for a walk, run, bike ride.
