Time Capsule replacement

I have a 10 year old Time capsule/router that needed replacement. The problem was the router portion was getting problematic and needed to be replaced. Apple no longer makes the Time capsule. I have three MacBook Pro's that were each storing data on the Time capsule. I tried to connect my Time capsule to the new router to back up my computers. Following the Apple recommended solution I have one problem. I have no ethernet ports on my Macbooks? Any suggestions on how to use my Time Capsule or am I no longer able to use the Time Capsule to back up my computers?

Thank you very much for your excellent response and advice.

Due to the age of my Time Capsule and your advice on its future reliability I am going to look for another backup system. Most of what I have backed up is no longer critical since I retired. I have been told that a google cloud is a good back up system. I'll be on the look out for that. Then for the matter I think the Apple cloud should do the same thing??

Again, many thanks for your suggestions and advice.

It continues to appear that you did not get complete information from Apple, or you misunderstood the information. We asked for them or a link to get clarification, but we did not receive this information.

You might not be aware that you do have the option to connect the Time Capsule to your new router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, turn off the WiFi on the Time Capsule, and back up to the Time Capsule over the WiFi network provided by your new router.

Then......backups will occur automatically without your having to change connections and do anything manually.

But.....and this is a big but......you would not want to continue to store any data that is valuable to you on the Time Capsule, since frankly, the power supply and hard drive on the Time Capsule are both overdue to fail at this point.

Most Time Capsules went 5-6 years. Congrats on your extremely good luck with the Time Capsule.

If the data on the Time Capsule hard drive is important to you, I would recommend that you connect a USB drive to the USB port on the Time Capsule and use the Archive function in AirPort Utility to copy all of the data on the Time Capsule hard drive over to the USB drive for safekeeping.

Sorry, I am confused.

1) You mention that your Time Capsule needed to be replaced, and yet you mention that you have connected the Time Capsule to a new router. It sounds like you are still trying to use the Time Capsule.

2) You mention that your MacBooks do not have an Ethernet port. How did you back up the MacBooks previously if you followed what you say are Apple recommendations?

In other words, if you backed up the MacBooks previously using Wi-Fi, you can continue to back them up using the Wi-Fi provided by the new router, assuming that you have set up the Time Capsule correctly to work with the new router.

Can you please clarify things for us?

Do you plan to continue using the Time Capsule?

Can you please provide the make and model number of your new router?

It appears that you have likely misunderstood the Apple recommendations. Can you provide a link to those instructions, so we will have a better understanding?

Time Capsule replacement

My time capsule is not connected to the new router. currently it is off line and unplugged. I has always been connected to my MacBook looks wirelessly. Unfortunately Time Capsule is no longer supported by apple.

All previous connections were wireless. I was try to continue to use the time caspule for back up of my three systems.  I think it is time to give up the legacy equipment and move to some other system. i am not dismayed. i just wanted to get a little more use of the back up. It was nice that it kept my systems backed up without me having to do so. it worked in the back ground.
