Can’t reset iCloud password and/or sign out from the iPad

I don’t remember the password for the iPad’s iCloud account. Tried all of the reset paths but the account is all locked. Discussed with the apple support and the answer was that NOTHING can be done to re-open this account.

In order to use the iPad they had two suggestions

1) reset the iPad OR

2 sign out from the iPad and then sign in with an other account.

Neither of these works as both require the password that I don’t have!

My iPad is soon useless as any updates can’t be done! Is there any way to reset the iPad without the password?

iPad 5th generation, software version 14.2.

Unless you have proactively and deliberately closed the AppleID account, you should be able to recover the credentials.

If your iPad is disabled, or you have forgotten your iPad passcode, you’ll need to follow this process:

If you’ve forgotten the passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is disabled – Apple Support

You’ll need access to either a PC (with iTunes installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of MacOS).

Download and use iTunes for Windows – Apple Support

Update to the latest version of iTunes – Apple Support

You may also need your AppleID and associated password. If these have also been forgotten, they can be recovered here:

https://iforgot.apple.com

To recover your credentials, you’ll need access to one of the following:

  • Your primary email address mailbox that corresponds with your AppleID
  • Any of the secondary/recovery email addresses that should be configured for your AppleID account
  • Any of the trusted telephone numbers (fixed line or Cellular/Mobile) that are associated with your AppleID

Unless you AppleID account has not been fully/correctly configured, or has been seriously neglected, recovery of the AppleID and password should not be difficult.

When you recover access to your credentials, you would be well advised to log-in to your AppleID account from a web browser - and verify/update any email addresses and trusted telephone numbers:

Thank you! I will try all of these.

The background; I bought the iPad at a very hectic point and asked for the istallations service. They then (for some respon) opened a new account for me and didn’t connect it to any back-up email och phone number. I know I managed to logg in and changed the password but I don’t know to what.

I didn’t misuse the account (other than trying to log in too many times) and I didn’t close it on purpose. So it seems unreasonable that ther wouldn’t be a way to access the account or reset the password.
