MacBook Air M1 not showing full external hard drives

the MacBook is not showing up the full amount of files, both movies and music look to stop right at the D letters. Anything past that is not showing. Ive gone through and used the command, shift and (.) and they are not hidden.

The hard drive works fine on other computers just not showing on the M1 MacBook Air.

Hi there gh101,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with seeing all of your files on an external hard drive connected to your MacBook Air, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

If you restart your Mac, do you notice the same issue?

Also, try restarting in safe mode, and check for the issue there: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Finally, to determine if the issue is user-specific or system-wide, create a new admin user account, and look for the files there: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Regards.
