Latest Big Sur update (11.3.1) will not load. Any suggestions?

Disconnect all external drives and shutdown. Connect to charger if a laptop. Restart in Safe Mode. It is going to do a Repair Disk, clear cache files and only load apple software, extensions and Fonts. Will load slowly - normal. This may or may not allow the installation to successfully complete.

Not necessary and one can do as they see fit. The advise is not written in stone. From experience and on-hand to boot - the suggestion has worked

Why should this be necessary? I expect better from Apple.

Reminds me of Windows 95..... should have been solved prior to release
