Apple Photos not remembering window size when opening

This issue (and it is an issue) has only been happening for about a month or so, but it's really frustrating and something has changed that I can't figure out.

When opening Apple Photos, the window size is a relatively small square size, so I'll maximise the application. That gets reset when I open Photos back up. Even after immediately maximising the application, and quitting, as soon as I re-open it, it opens up in it's smaller square size.

Can someone please help me with this and tell me why this is happening and how I can stop it so it always opens maximised? It never used to do this!

Photos should open always in the size you have used last.

How are you maximising the window?

Are you clicking the green button to go to full screen mode? Or are you dragging the corners to enlarge the window? Try to drag a corner to enlarge the window, the quit Photos and restart it.

Does this change the default window size?

If dragging a corner does not reset the window size to normal, the Preferences file may be corrupted. In that case it may help to repair the permissions in your home folder.

How strange.

I'm Option clicking the green button, so it doesn't go Full Screen mode, but maximises the window.

However I tried dragging the window to resize, closed Photos and opened it again, and it did open in the modified size. So I will just drag it to fill the screen.

But strange how it doesn't recognise being maximised as the new size?

But thanks anyway, you've solved my issue!
