MacBook Pro 2020 (intel) slow to wake up from sleep

Big Sur 11.3.1

My MacBook Pro 2020 (intel) takes 3-5 seconds to wake up when I open the lid, which is significantly longer than my 2020 MacBook Air (work computer) and my partner's 2016 MacBook Air.

In addition, it will sometimes not wake up and need a restart.

I have already tried resetting the SMC

It's a minor problem but frustrating as one of things I love about this computers is the no nonsense ability to open the lid and get to work.

Go step by step and test.

1. Reset PRAM:  Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Settings that can be stored in NVRAM include sound volume, display resolution, startup-disk selection, time zone,

     and recent kernel panic information.

The settings stored in NVRAM  depend on your Mac and the devices that you're using with your Mac.

2. Startup in Safe mode. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

To leave Safe Mode, click  in the menu bar and choose “Restart”

    Quote:

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software when it starts up, including login items,

system extensions not required by macOS,

and fonts not installed by macOS. It  also does a basic check of your startup disk,

similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility

And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache,

which will be created again automatically as needed.

Thanks - but I went step by step without any luck. When I open I lid, I have to hit the power button for my screen to turn on.

Again, my MacBook Air's screen is ready for me to type my password into before it's even halfway open.

Wondering if this a computer specific issue - does a pro with 16gb of RAM just take longer?
