How can I use my 2017 27 inch iMac as second display for my 2020 MacBook Air?

I have a 2017 27 inch iMac and I want to use it as a second display for my 2020 13 inch intel MacBook Air. I have tried connecting them using a thunderbolt usb-c port and using target display but this does not seem to work. Is there any other way that I could do this?
