Apple Watch series 3, walking activity constantly pauses

Almost every time we walk the dogs, my walk activity pauses, it’s frustrating. I read that the watch band should be tighter to have better contact with skin, and I lock it once it starts. (So I tried that) Today it said it looks like your on a walk do you want to open goal, so I did, with it to pause after it alerted me to a mile. Every time we walk it will pause. I have the dial on the arm side of the watch, not the wrist side, it’s tight enough, and locked… and it still happens

is there anything I can do?

Oh dear,read this;

https://techcrunch.com/2015/05/01/apple-confirms-tattoos-can-affect-apple-watchs-heart-rate-sensor-readings/

Apple says;

Permanent or temporary changes to your skin, such as some tattoos, can also impact heart rate sensor performance. The ink, pattern and saturation of some tattoos can block light from the sensor, making it difficult to get reliable readings.

well that explains why the outdoor walking pauses all the time, thankfully the heart rate monitor still works :-) it seems to be fairly accurate with my BP cuff. So at least that works... wished there was a way to get "steps" to my watch from my phone... that may have helped. Perhaps Apple will find a solution in the future.

Thanks for your help!
