How do I set up my email account as a POP3 account on a MacBook Pro running Big Sur?

I want to set up my email account as a POP3 account, which is what I had on my previous MacBook. But when setting the account up, it defaults to IMAP and does not offer POP3 as an option. Is there any way I can set up a POP3 account?

You need to trick the system. Or try this:

Add an email account and pick "other mail account" ilo one the provided servers

put in your email and password

then while holding down the option key sign in

then follow the prompts. You should be able to pick POP. You will have to enter the server mail incoming and outgoing settings.
