safari does not download files properly. download manager indicates that file is downloaded. However, download folder shows file with file extension ".download" which cannot be opened

I am trying to download certain files on Safari. Download seems without any glitch. Download manager in Safari indicates that file is downloaded.

However, in download folder the file sits with additional file extension ".download".

When I try to rename file, it does not work. On right click, rename option is not visible and download file cannot be opened in any application.

This may happen when file is not completely downloaded.

1. Quit Safari, launch Safari holding the Shift key down and try.

2. Clear History

Please read the article before clearing history,

this is like a low level resetting of Safari without affecting passwords and bookmarks.

3. If Safari doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected
