HP USB Printer setup

Why do my newer macs not connect with my HP P1006 printer? The software is listed in the device drivers but I go to syspref/printers and scanners and it doesn't show the printer.

Mac mini, macOS 11.0

Have you tried to reset the printing system and re-add the printer?

Check whether the operating system offers a suitable driver.

Otherwise, have you tried the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS (Post Date: Dec 11, 2020) from Apple (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US)? An HP LaserJet P1006 driver version 1.6.1 is mentioned in the article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support.
