iPad

Thinking of getting an iPad but don't need one until end of Summer or Autumn timeframe. This is not for school but rather for the whole family to use for anything. Is the recommendation to wait until iOS15 comes out then buy a new iPad or buy an iPad now and then upgrade to iOS15 when it is available?

iPad, iOS 10

I would wait to see if any other new iPad models get introduced in the Fall.

There maybe another new base model iPad or another new iPad Mini model in the Fall.

No way to know this, for sure.

It is only another 4-5 month wait, unless you want a new iPad now.

All the iPad models that can currently run iPadOS 14, will all run iPadOS 15.

Purchase the largest internal storage option you can afford as NO Apple iOS/iPadOS device has expandable storagr.

If you can, stay away from any iPad that offers 32 GBs as a base minimum storage option.

A 32 GBs storage iPad starts out with approx 30 GBs.,after initial internal flash drive formatting.

Minus approx. 6.5 GBs for iOS/iPadOS leaves between 23-24 GBs.

Minus 3-6GBs, for iOS/iPadOS system operational reserve, that MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, to ensure/insure normal, expected operation of iOS/iPad OS, leaves approx. between 18-20 GBs of actual, usable data storage space.

Even with 20 GBs of actual, usable internal data storage space in an Apple iOS/iPadOS device,

a 32 GBs data storage devices are, now, more quickly, becoming the “new” low storage 16 GBs internal data storage space devices, today, a 32 GBs Apple iOS/iPadOS device has 3-4 times the internal data storage space of older base model, low internal data storage,16 GBs. internal data storage Apple iOS/iPadOS devices.

In reality, in 2021, a 32 GBs internal data storage device is a joke and of limited usefulness.

64 GBs and 128 GBs Apple iOS/iPadOS device storage options are the true minimum intenal data storage devices to really consider today, in 2021 and forward.

A 64 GBs storage iPad starts out with approx. 60 GBs.,after initial internal flash drive formatting.

Minus approx. 6.5 GBs for iOS/iPadOS leaves between 53-54 GBs.

Minus 3-6 GBs, for iOS/iPadOS system operational reserve, that MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, to ensure/insure normal, expected operation of iOS/iPad OS, leaves approx. between 48-50 GBs of actual, usable data storage space.

A 128 GBs storage iPad starts out with approx.119 GBs.,after initial internal flash drive formatting.

Minus approx. 6.5 GBs for iOS/iPadOS leaves between 112-113 GBs.

Minus 3- 6GBs, for iOS/iPadOS system operational reserve, that MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, to ensure/insure normal, expected operation of iOS/iPad OS, leaves approx. between 107-109 GBs of actual, usable data storage space.

Okay, I see where you're coming from as for the users but we have a pretty old iPad from 2012-ish and from time to time the 4 of us in the family would use it and that worked good for us multiusers. I would be the primary user then.

Is the recommendation to wait until iOS15 comes out then buy a new iPad or buy an iPad now and then upgrade to iOS15 when it is available?
