How to get rid of the black border when pasting an image on Preview?

I use preview to edit images, usually for memes and jokes. Before the update, I could use the lasso tool to simply copy and paste parts of the image with no problem. However, since the update, I can't copy and paste anything with the circle or lasso tool without the pasted product having a black, rectangular border! How do I get rid of said borders?

Make changes to the border color, from toolbar options, set it to none...or your choice.

Also from Preview>Preferences >General you have choice about background color as well.
