trying to delete apps on mac. click on delete, am asked if i am sure, i click on yes and the app just sits there and goes nowhere

Are you trying to delete these apps from the Launchpad window?

You might try to delete them directly from the Applications folder in Finder. (⇧⌘A)

Please be aware that some apps are required by the macOS and will not allow you to delete them.

Others may have a particular process to remove them, or an uninstaller that came with them that you should use to remove them properly.

Open the applications folder and drag item to the trash empty and job done in the main.

A few suites such as those of Adobe and Microsoft employ uninstall programmes

Now if you want to remove the small library , plist and kext files you may have to do some searches, in the hidden library file which resides in your home directory and in the system files .

An alternative is a small app such a Appzapper its $20 and is GUI that runs terminal scripts in the background; finds all those associated files and the application and deletes them really easily . You just drag the icon onto a window and hit delete .
