Muffled Audio Iphone 12pro max ONLY in camera app

Curious if anyone has this issue or a solution? I have the iphone 12 pro max and the audio on all my videos is muffled and almost inaudible BUT it’s not the phone because when I record a video live straight onto instagram or record audio notes the sound is perfectly clear. It is ONLY in the camera app of the iphone when I record a video that the audio is all muffled. I have tried holding the phone in various ways to avoid blocking any parts of it, it doesn’t matter what I do. Please help as recording video only into instagram vs my phone is very annoying! Thank you!
