I am wondering if you would be able to tell me if my phone was unlocked.

If you bought your phone from Apple, your device will be unlocked, however, if you bought it from your mobile network, it is most likely going to be locked to that carrier.

Insert a different carrier's sim into your phone to see if it works, if it does you're good to go, your phone is unlocked, if it does not work you'll need to contact your carrier (who the phone is locked to) for help unlocking your iPhone.
