Dial it, seeing if you hear It ring in the other room.

Texting it:

Also, you could send it a text message, asking who ever fits to to contact you via eMail. If you were to meet them, be certain your have someone with you, and meet in a public place.

If you did not set the find my app, the only way to try to find it is to physically look for it where you think you lost it.
