I updated an app (Miitomo) that hasn’t been supported for five years and am worried about malware

Hi all,

So I recently had updates for Iphone apps and went to the app store app to update (so far, so normal). I pressed update all without thinking and noticed Miitomo was one of the apps now updating. Now this app hasn’t been supported for some 5 years, and since this was a live game, you couldn’t normally access this game anyway, but it was still in my app library.

so anyway, i don’t want to launch this app now since I’m not sure this app was actually updated by the maker (which is either DeNA or Nintendo, I’m not sure). Does anyone know how best to proceed?

The odds of your downloading anything malicious from the App Store are near zero.

Your best bet is to simply delete it before opening it, as even if it were malicious there is nothing that can happen by merely downloading it.

Hi DM

The thing is, I was looking for Miitomo (the app in question) one the app store, but it isn’t found anymore. I know Nintendo owns the Mii IP, so I looked under Nintendo too, but no dice. They have this partnership for their app development with DeNA, but they too showed no result. So I couldn’t see any developer updates on the App Store.
