Updating to big sur

There is an error occurring when i try to download the new software and then i tried to recover it but it doesn’t do a thing what should i do?

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

What version of macOS is installed on the computer ? What software was being download to install ? Were there any Error Message that appeared ? If so, what was the Error Message saying - exactly ? What did you do to " tried to recover " ?
