How am I able to download apps from the App Store with having to provide a password each time? Don’t know how to change it back since my son did something to my phone. I used to be able to just click download and it would pop up accept to download the app without a password especially from my Apple ID!

You can set up so you can use Face ID to verify a purchase:
Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support
Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode
Turn on FaceID for App Store
