If you're giving away, selling, or trading away your MacBook Air, you must turn off Find My Mac before erasing or giving away your device. MacBook Air models introduced in 2018 or later have Activation Lock, which makes it impossible for anyone to set up your device without signing into your Apple ID to prevent theft. You should sign out of iCloud before erasing your Mac anyway, which turns off Find My.
