Run Photos from SD card slot
I have 2013 MacBook Pro with an SD card Can I use the card slot to run Photos and store all my photos there? SSD is getting full.

Yes, if you have a sufficiently large SD card, to accommodate your Photos Library, you can format it as MacOS extended journaled and move the PhotosLibrary.photoslibrary file from your Pictures folder onto it.
The Photos App should remain on your internal drive however.
Then start the Photos app by holding down the option key, and point it to the file on the SD card.
