Apple Watch Undercuts Steps and Distance

Has anyone else realized their watch drastically undercounts their steps and distance when walking/jogging?

I was beating myself up trying to get 2 miles under my belt last night but my watch was saying I was at 1.9 ish — another GPS tracking app told me 2.43?!

Is there a way I can fix the Apple Watch tracker?
