Space Bar Quick Look crashing/blanking screen

When I press space bar on any file the icons on my desktop disappear and doesn't load quick look. If I have a finder window open, the finder window disappears, also not opening quick look. Has anyone experienced this?

I've tried restarting, checking for updates, and deleting the com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist / restarting like I saw in another thread.

This is a big functionality for me, I appreciate any assistance.

Hello, nolkodesign.

Since rebooting your Mac didn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in Safe mode (hold the shift key down at startup). It can take much longer to safe boot (10 min) so be patient.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode forces the OS to clear certain caches and logs and do other miscellaneous housekeeping. It's non-destructive to user data so is safe to do. Very often certain weird software behavior is corrected by simply logging in this way as a troubleshooting method. When you're in safe boot, the machine will not be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's normal.

Does the problem persist while in Safe mode?

Exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally and re-evaluate the issue again.

If the problem is still unresolved, please return here and post a reply and we’ll see what else we can come up with for help.

Problem persisted in Safe Mode, when pressing space bar on a jpg on the desk top, all desktop icons and task bar at the top of the page disappeared for a couple seconds. When pressing space bar on finder window file, the window alone disappears.

Tried Safe Mode twice and restarted nothing seems to have changed. Thanks for any further suggestions, I'm at a loss for trouble shooting and definitely don't want to have to go into the Apple store for support.
