Perhaps see if uninstalling what you have, then re-install a new download copy may help.

[There's also a retail version for a fee, with 7-day trial run, both available from same link.]

• Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install - for all versions

https://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

Sometimes Apple Preview can do most things adequately instead of free version Reader.

In my older Mac, no longer sees latest macOS, Adobe Reader DC (free) & tries install new

version that cannot be sustained by older Mac OS. Error reports persisted, until I found

all Reader DC parts & removed them. ~ Had to go deep; got it all. Preview works for me.

A trial run version of 'Find Any File' worked good, helped to remove problematic software.

Not working as in will not launch? Not working as in the PDF browser plug-in is not working, or some other issue?

Acrobat Reader DC v2020 was the first version to support macOS Catalina, and if yours is older, then your only option is to get the current version of free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Do not download the Acrobat Pro DC trial as that is a PDF editor, and only available now by Adobe subscription.

On Acrobat Reader DC, there is a Help menu item: Check for Updates… which you should check periodically as Adobe does not reliably alert you when Acrobat Reader DC has been updated.

Not working as in it downloads part of the first page and then freezes so Force Quit is required.

Update Adobe Acrobat Reader DC per the previous link.

You don’t download PDF pages into Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, you open the PDF file on the Mac into Reader. If you are downloading PDF from the Internet on Catalina, then the traditional PDF plug-in from Reader is no longer used and it will be the native Safari PDF plug-in, or the built-in PDF processing code in Firefox, or Chrome.
