Handoff and universal clipboard not working

Hello all.

Handoff and universal clipboard are not working between my iPad and my Mac in either direction. I have checked that both devices are configured correctly (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switched on, Handoff enabled, both devices signed in to my Apple ID). I have tried updating both devices, restarting both devices, toggling Handoff, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and off. Nothing has worked.

Here are the details:

MacBook Pro 13" 2017, Two TB Ports, Function Keys, 2.3GHz i5

MacOS Big Sur version 11.5.1

iPad 8th generation

iPadOS 14.7.1

Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Universal Clipboard is a key part of my workflow.

Replying to my own question with the answer I found, in case anyone else has the same problem and searches for this.

I had to reset the Bluetooth settings on my Mac and then restart the computer.

  1. In Finder, press & hold the option key and click Go at the top menu bar.
  2. Click Library.
  3. Scroll down and click Preferences.
  4. In the top-right search box, type the word Bluetooth. Click Preferences.
  5. Select all such files by pressing Command + A and move them to Trash.
  6. Empty the Trash and restart your computer.
