how do i erase my device if my display doesn't work?

My iphone XS Max display broke. I got a replacement through my insurance, but I can't figure out how to erase my broken device to send it back in.

The instructions all say to find it in iTunes or Find My and erase, but that isn't a clear option.

Help!

See the “If you no longer have your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch” section here What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If the device is not showing up, it was either removed already, or Find My was previously disabled.
