How to remove a song from a playlist in ipod touch

I have an ipod touch. How to remove a song from a playlist but not from the library? How to change the order of songs in a playlist? I want to do all this from my ipod touch, not my computer.

There are two types of Playlists: a Regular Playlist and a Smart Playlist. You can only delete songs from a Regular Playlist on the iPod, and even then it may depend upon which model of iPod you have.

The two types of Playlist can be identified (on a recent iPod Touch) as follows when looking at the list of Playlists:

    1. Regular Playlist - displays artwork (from one of the songs in the Playlist) against the Playlist name
    2. Smart Playlist - displays the Settings icon (the gear wheel) against the Playlist name

On more recent models,

  • go into the Playlist look and tap on the Edit text at the top right of the list. A red circle with a dash in it (the "minus" sign) appears next to each song and a three-bar "menu" icon to its right
  • tap on the minus icon to remove the song from that Playlist
  • tap-and-hold the song's three-bar icon and then drag that icon to the new position in the Playlist
  • tap Done when finished
